HGTV Expands Its Programming Lineup

As it continues to rack up the viewers across the country, HGTV is revamping its programming lineup and refreshing its logo. Both moves signify that the channel is now a major player in the pay-TV circuit. Coming out of a nasty dispute with Cablevision that saw the channel taken off the cable company’s lineup for more than two weeks, HGTV is ready to show the industry that it has the ability to innovate and stay an active player. Check out some of the new shows that HGTV will premiere throughout this month as it continues to expand its lineup of original programming.

A Mike Holmes Takeover

One of the fastest-rising stars on HGTV (and possibly the favorite HGTV personality of both my wife and my mother), Mike Holmes will expand his footprint on the network. Holmes on Homes, which returns with new episodes starting March 7th at 9 pm ET, is a no-nonsense look at what happens when homeowners hire the wrong contractors. Holmes takes a straight-forward approach to fixing the problems, explaining to the homeowners and the viewers exactly what went wrong and how to properly correct it. The show also features candid advice on what sort of work to keep an eye out for when you a have contractor working in your home. A new show starring Holmes, Holmes Inspection, starts April 3rd at 9am ET.

Strong Personalities Take Over HGTV

Many of the most liked personalities on HGTV have extremely strong personalities and are quite the characters. The hosts and subjects of five new shows all definitely fit the bill. First up, Tough as Nails showcases the achievements of Cindy Stumpo, builder of multi-million dollar homes. This docudrama takes inside Stumpo’s life as she struggles to balance life and family. This new show premieres on March 14th at 11pm ET.

Juggling the demands of a growing family is also the subject of Home Rules. Life coach and former WNBA player Fran Harris visits the homes of families who are having trouble balancing the needs of all. She will come it to provide peace to their lives and their home. Check out this new show when it premieres on March 15th at 9pm ET.

Four other shows will follow the struggles of ordinary people as they learn to deal with life, love, real estate and remodels. Marriage Under Construction will follow the struggles of newly married Natalie and Rob as they renovate and decorate their newly purchased home. Luckily for them, they’ll get help from a budding designer and an experienced designer. This new show premieres on March 16th at 11pm ET. My First Sale will track homeowners first attempt at selling their home. Experience heartbreak and triumph as they deal with the difficult reality of today’s real estate market. This show premieres on March 18th at 8:30pm ET.

Selling New York shows viewers the inside story of two major players in the Manhattan real estate market, the Core Group and Gumly Haft Klier, as they move and purchase properties around town. See this new show for the first time on March 18th at 9pm ET. Finally, Destination Design will add a new unique touch to the usual design show, as homeowners will be sent on a luxury vacation to discover inspiration for designing their home. Designer Taniya Nayak will use their photos, souvenirs and mementos to redesign their homes.
