It seems as though Mad Men has received their biggest supporter yet, as USA Today is reporting that President Obama himself is a fan of the popular drama. With the new season premiere airing this Sunday, we thought we would do some sleuthing and try and figure out what shows some of our former Presidents would endorse if they were still in office.
George W. Bush – Entourage
The show depicts an up-and-coming actor, with little-to-no talent, who continues to pursue his dream due to advice of his friends. We’re rooting Vince doesn’t make it.
Bill Clinton – Lie to Me
The President who was steeped in controversy and almost lost his job because of a lie would have surely loved this hit FOX drama about a deception expert and his team of rag-tag lie detectors. This of course begs the question: Would the 42nd President be Dr. Cal Lightman’s ultimate challenge?
Ronald Reagan – Battlestar Galactica
Reagan was famous for his Star Wars speech, so it’s logical that he would have been hooked on this space opera. Centered on a group of survivors in search of the missing colony Earth, the show dealt with a variety of topics under the guise of aliens and spaceships. Definitely Reagan’s boat. That, and he’d probably confuse the Cylons for the Soviets.
Richard Nixon – Big Brother
Nixon probably would have tried to be a contestant on this show, which is about a group of people being watched by the outside world, as a means of overcoming the Watergate Scandal. Our bets would have been on him being evicted pretty early on when the roommates stumble upon him planting tape recorders all over the house.
Abraham Lincoln – Jersey Shore
He freed the slaves, and helped end The Civil War. It only seems right that Lincoln would deserve a vacation? And now that the show’s cast has agreed to a third season, Honest Abe could be sure to lose his honesty…and possibly his dignity.
George Washington – The LXD
Unbeknownst to many, George Washington actually invented the Robot. Believe it.
Watch Mad Men on AMC from DISH Network, channel 130. It premieres this Sunday at 10:00 pm.
